My first time at Ed's and I was disappointed in the sides I chose. The dressing was mush with no seasoning and the potato salad was generic. The ribs were excellent. The chicken was really good. Next time I will try the other sides. Our server was very sweet and thoughtful as she assisted a family with a difficult situation.

Best soulfood that I have found in the nation this year. Everything in made from scratch, with love and pride. Treat yourself, don't cheat yourself.

This was more soul food than barbeque so the name of this establishment made me expect something else. I was looking forward to eating pulled pork but either they don't make it here or it was just not made on the Saturday we visited. The food was okay and everyone there was nice. We probably won't be back though.

The service was great and the owner greeted me at the door and shook my hand. This place is a hidden gem. They have straight up soul food, country cooking, and bbq. I got the half chicken with cabbage and mashed potatoes. It was perfect and made from scratch. The seasoning on the chicken was so good that you don't even need a sauce. I've only been once so I hope it stays consistent. The red velvet cake was the best I have ever eaten.

Are you looking for some good finger licking soul food...well Ed's Bar-Be-Que is the place to go!!! They have the best soul food in town!! There food ALWAYS hits the spot!!

I love this place...I was first introduced four years ago and it became a favorite spot immediately. The food is so down home that I thought I had visited my family. Since I worked long days and still wanted those days of a full cooked meal and not fast food this was a great alternative. It was one of the first restaurants I went to after returning to the area. Be careful on Sunday the line will be long but the atmosphere is from the movie 'Soul Food'. The staff is friendly and funny...think 'Big Mamma's House. If you are new to the area or if you are a southern bachelor this is your place for a great meal!!!

Yea it's a bit of a dive hidden in an industrial area but worth it. I'm not southern and soul food is a new thing to me. It's just old school grandma cooking. The kind of food you get at a good Sunday family dinner after church. Don't expect to lower your cholesterol here but do treat yourself to this occasional guilty pleasure with your buddies. Good food, good prices, quasi clean, lots of long table - almost cafeteria style eating.

Great value in this out of the way but busy little restaurant. We enjoyed the home cooked ribs. Thank you Ed...

I had the ribs, stuffing, and yams, sooo delicious! Service was nice and fast. It's a mix of soul food/bbq. The stuffing was sooooo good!

Friendly and kind wait staff couples with fantastic southern barbeque. This place is a must on your way in and out of town.

I never write reviews but this food was AMAZING! It felt like I had the true love n flavor that it takes to make a home cooked meal. I had fried chicken which was seasoned perfectly turkey wings which fell off the bone.... The greens the peas the rice were all amazing! Will definitely be back!

The food is excellent. My family had a little bit of everything. I had the ribs, which were covered in a very spicy sauce. DELICIOUS. All of the dishes are worth a try. Service was friendly and very fast even though we went on a Sunday and it was very busy.

Great food, forget all about that fast-food restaurant why not just do a home cook meal? Yes! My husband did it again! Right before and after i had our baby we went and was so good, I just hope that one day i'll be back. I am not a big fast-food eater. Lol

The best "soul food" I have had in the area and easily the best greens. The turkey wing (flight and radius/ulna only) was roasted and slow cooked with water such that it was falling off the bone. In fact, all I left behind was a small pile of bones and some of the biscuit (not particularly good--will opt for the corn bread next time). Glaze on the turkey was ok, but the homemade spicy sauce (I heard someone else ask for it) was very very good. It was a bit thinner than I might make it (I like to slather it a bit too thick), but plenty of mustard, heat and sweet. Greens were perfect (often they are too salty or mushy for my taste). Stuffing with cranberry jelly and summer squash were unremarkable. IMO, the squash was overcooked, a local custom from which deviation is rare, but it was not buttery or creamy. Unsweetened iced tea was ok and bottomless. The building is well off the beaten path in a sister city that is considered the "other side of the tracks" and although it is near the main street, Ed's is located in an industrial area that no one would happen upon unless they worked nearby. That said, Ed's is worth a detour for both the food and the cultural experience (I have lived in the US only 12 of my 50 years mostly in CA and FL). There are Christian religion overtones (not too heavy or preachy) and the owners are clearly big fans of President Obama. Food is simple, authentic and served cafeteria style. They also had chicken, rice, beans, corn bread and oxtail soup (will definitely try the latter two next time). I was told they also do bbq pork. Service is appropriate and effective and tables are regularly checked to make sure all the right equipment is at hand and the drinks are full. Table covered with local business ads was surprisingly tasteful and effective (not easy to do IMO)--color photos directly on acrylic with durable clear coating. First time ever I think I will buy a shirt. It has a the biblical, but appropriate, quote on the back "Taste and see that the Lord is Good--PS34:8). The owners and staff at Ed's are definitely true to their faith.

Great BBQ! The food is delicious because the people are passionate about their food, and they make sure you're happy with your meal. Ed is a truly superior host - warm, welcoming, and thoughtful. He came by the table several times. His friendly ladies serve the fare cafeteria-style from behind a counter and Ed brings the beverages to your table. If you're looking for fancy, Ed's isn't for you - but if you want some of the finest home cooking anywhere, this is the place!

I visited my bf at military training in Columbus and asked his friends to take us to some goooood southern soul food that would make me love the south and never wanna leave. Eds BBQ did not disappoint. The line was long but it moves really quickly since they serve in a cafeteria style where you pick you meat, your aidrs and then your drink. The fried chicken was on point and the skin was so crunchy and flakey...yum. I also got the yams and the mac & cheese which were both to die for. I totally understand why people lovr southern food so much now...I could taste the calories and they were DELICIOUS!! They give cornbeard or a roll on the side, whcih werr both ok in my opinion but the rest of the meal was so good it didnt matter. Already planning my next trip back to Columbus, GA so I can visit Eds again!!

Was in Columbus on business and stopped in at Ed's for lunch yesterday. It was the best meal of the trip. The food was simple but excellent. The service was great and the restaurant was clean and neat.

The food here is fantastic. Banquet style country cooking served with smiles and good attitudes. Look, I've been to Minnie's... but, Ed's fried chicken, grilled chicken, and baked chicken are all better. The daily specials like beef liver, pork chops, etc. are SO FREAKING good. I frequent this place and have recruited others to do the same.

Great food and great service! Staff is friendly and service is outstanding. The catfish is the best veggies are crazy good and we love the collards dressing cabbage and homemade desserts to top it off. Don't miss out on Ed's Bar Be Que. The family's in town for our sons Family Day at Fort Benning,Georgia and will always stop by Ed's when we come to Georgia!! Thanks from California.
